Loft Development Corporation is a commercial real estate firm in Chicago and has been in business since 1978. Loft employs approximately 25 people and currently owns and manages six commercial office buildings, plus two self storage/wine storage businesses under the brand Strongbox.

The company was an early pioneer in the practice of renovating old urban industrial warehouses and converting them into loft-style office spaces and self storage facilities. In the mid-80s, the company added state-of-the art wine storage solutions to its Strongbox facilities, which led the trend that popularized wine storage facilities across the country.
Owen Deutsch is the Founder, Chairman & CEO of Loft Development Corporation, an award winning developer and an early innovator in commercial real estate. Over the last 40 years, he has purchased and sold over 50 million dollars of real estate. He is a lifetime resident of Chicago and attended the University of Illinois and the Illinois Institute of Technology. Outside of Loft, Owen is a world renowned nature and bird photographer and has been recognized by leading organizations such as Audubon, National Geographic, North American Nature Photography Association and American Bird Conservancy.
Daniel Kaplan is the President of Loft Development Corporation and has been affiliated with the company since 1984. Dan has been an active participant in all aspects of the real estate market including the purchase, due diligence, and loan preparation phases of commercial, residential and self storage projects, in addition to the management, leasing and sale of these properties. Prior to joining Loft, Dan was with the public accounting firms of Morrisson & Morrisson, Ltd. and Arthur Andersen & Co., Ltd. Dan holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana University and is a registered CPA in the State of Illinois.
